Start by preparing the dough: in a bowl, pour the flour with a little salt (1) and then diced cold butter (2). Mix everything by hand until you get a floury and crumbly dough (3).

Gradually add cold water (4) and continue to stir until incorporated. The final dough must be homogeneous and resistant, not crumbly at all. It would be good to knead the dough on a large work surface until it takes shape (5). Make a ball out of the dough and wrap it in a transparent plastic wrap (6). Let it rest in the fridge for at least 30 minutes.

Meanwhile, prepare the composition of the pie. Wash and peel the apples (7). Cut them in half, then into quarters, remove the back and then cut them into thin slices. (8), but do not overdo it, so as not to break when you mix them. Then put them in a large bowl (9).

Add grated lemon peel, lemon juice, salt, teaspoon of cinnamon, nutmeg powder, sugar and sifted flour over the apples. (10). Mix all the ingredients gently by hand, being careful not to break the apples (11). When you're done, cover the bowl with plastic wrap to prevent the apples from oxidizing while you take care of the dough. (12).

Prepare the baking tray. It should be about 25 cm in diameter (13). Grease it with a little butter (14) and sprinkle a very thin layer of flour on top (15). After standing in the refrigerator for 30 minutes, the dough can be spread.

Divide it into two parts, one of 2/3 and the other of 1/3 (16). Sprinkle flour all over the work surface and, using a rolling pin, spread the larger amount of dough until you get a round sheet. (17), about half a centimeter thick, which you will place in the tray, completely covering its walls (18).

Remove excess sheet from the edges (19) and then pour into the tray, over the sheet of dough, the composition prepared earlier (20). Be sure to distribute the apples as evenly as possible (21), possibly forming a "hill" in the middle. You can add a few cubes of butter here and there.

Spread the remaining dough in another sheet and cover the composition with it (22). Glue the dough sheet on top with the one below (23). Using a fork, press and seal the two edges of the dough (24). This is the traditional way to decorate an American apple pie.

With a brush, spread a little milk on the entire surface of the pie (25) and then prick the dough here and there (26), so that the steam during baking can come out.

Then put the tray in the preheated oven at 200oC for 20 minutes, then lower the temperature to 180oC for another 20 minutes, and to 170oC for another 20 minutes, until you get a nice brown crust. At the end, turn off the heat and grease the surface of the pie with the beaten egg (27). Sprinkle a little powdered sugar to get a sweet and shiny crust. Then let the pie cool in the oven.

American Apple Pie & # 8211 Apple Pie

Finally I found a good dough recipe for American pie. And this is due to my good friend and colleague, Dorina B. We have been looking for a recipe for American dough for a long time, I tried a few times and then gave up. I came across an article written in English, in fact it looks more like a report, which explains in the smallest detail how and what ingredients are used. Dorina translated it for me with a lot of patience, in a way characteristic of her, then I used the conversion for the European units of measurement. A few tests, and I came to a result that satisfies me. I quickly publish the recipe, as long as I have it in my mind, I explained to you how I write my recipes!

  • Respect exactly the quantities and quality of the ingredients. The original recipe provides a combination of fat & # 8211 equal amounts of butter and shortening that is, a vegetable fat, which is sold to them. President butter has a taste that resembles margarine, so it seemed the most appropriate. Granny Smith apples are the variety indicated in pastries, they are sour, so they can balance the taste, and have a strong flesh, resistant to long baking. I had 4 apples in a fruit bowl, of three different varieties. As mosquitoes began to appear around the fruit bowl, I used those apples. It was not bad at all, so I think you can use any variety, but not fragrant. Do not use Golden!

  • Allow the pie to cool before cutting. You will notice the success of the preparation if the crust is crispy, golden on the bottom, and the dough dissolves a little, like puff pastry.
  • The filling can be done without waiting to leave the liquid, mixing from the beginning the apples with sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, lemon juice, melted butter and 2 tablespoons of corn. Combine all and place over the pie sheet.

What kind of fruit do we use in this apple pie?

For a wonderful taste and a special aroma, I recommend using several varieties of apples. The more varieties you use, the more flavorful the American pie will be. But don't worry about finding different apples. In supermarkets you can find enough types of apples. Try to choose Romanian apples, organic if possible, small, firm and with a pleasant smell. Beware of very large apples, with a thick and waxy skin. I don't buy imported apples unless I find anything from Romania. The butter must be absolutely cold and necessarily with 80% fat. Do not use margarine because it is unhealthy and tasteless. Think that the final product will come out according to the ingredients used.

For extra flavor I used essence of mere with cinnamon from Cosel. It is very fragrant and I find it a delicious combination for any apple dessert. You can also use the recipe apple strudel or any apple cake. It's the first time I meet this type of essence and I simply adore it. Bake the American apple pie for more than an hour, until the apples are soft enough, but keep their shape. I chose to put a woven decoration on top, very easy to make and effect. You can also put a lid on a dough disk, but you have to leave some ventilation holes in the middle. Before serving, let the pie cool for a few hours, then serve as such or with ice cream.

American Apple Pie & # 8211 Apple pie

American apple and cinnamon pie is an excellent, tasty and light dessert. American Apple Pie is very easy to make and very economical, being at the same time an excellent choice for an afternoon you want to spend with family or friends.

To prepare the top for the pie you need the following ingredients: 500 g flour 350 g diced butter 2 teaspoons salt 3 tablespoons sugar 150 ml cold water.

For the filling you need: 6 peeled and diced apples 5 tablespoons sugar 5 tablespoons brown sugar 1 teaspoon cinnamon powder 1 teaspoon lemon juice 1 tablespoon flour 50 g melted butter 1 beaten egg with 2 tablespoons sour cream.

Preparation: Pour the flour into the mixer. Add salt and sugar and mix slowly for about 2 minutes. Add the butter and mix slowly until the composition is homogeneous.

Add half of the water and let it homogenize, then add a little water from time to time, until you finish it. Continue to add water in small amounts, but only until the dough begins to set.

Remove the dough from the bowl of the mixer and make a ball. Cut a third of the dough, wrap both pieces of dough in plastic wrap, then put both pieces in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes. Personally, I prefer to make the dough the day before.

Meanwhile, heat the oven to 180 degrees. After removing the dough from the refrigerator, sprinkle the flour on the table, remove the larger piece of plastic and spread it. After you have made a sufficiently large sheet, wrap the sheet on the tensioner and lift it, carefully placing it in the tray. Cut the excess crust from the edges of the tray and place the tray in the fridge for another 20 minutes.

While in the fridge, prepare the filling. In the bowl with the diced apples, add the white sugar, brown sugar, lemon juice, cinnamon, flour and melted butter. Mix well.

Prepare the second sheet of pie, which you spread and cut into strips 2 cm wide. Remove the tray from the refrigerator and add the apples. Add the dough strips diagonally to create a lattice pattern. Glue, by light pressing, the edges of the strips with the edge of the bottom sheet, after which, with the help of a brush, grease with the beaten egg all the visible portions of the dough.

Put the tray in the oven and let it brown for 60 minutes, at 180 degrees. When it is ready, it must be golden brown. Take it out of the oven but, before serving, let it cool. It goes perfectly with a spoonful of vanilla ice cream.

American apple pie

American apple pie famous all over the world is a very simple and beloved American dessert, which has charmed generations and has been ubiquitous at meals served with family, picnics and Thanksgiving or Christmas meals. An apple pie, as its name suggests, is a pie or tart in which the main ingredients used for the filling are apples. a little more unusual, cheddar cheese. Apple pie with cheddar is very popular in the Midwest and New England, especially in the state of Vermont, where this special combination of apples with strong aromatic cheddar is considered to be the emblematic dish.

The original recipe for American apple pie is super easy to make! The apple filling is placed between two layers of dough - one at the base of the tray and one on top of the filling - the technique called "double crust pie". There are exceptions such as Tarte Tatin, a pie inspired by French gastronomy that has the filling & ldquodiscoverita & rdquo and deep-dish apple pie (apple pie in deep tray). It is not uncommon for the dough at the base of the tray to be baked before the filling is added, and then the entire pie is baked to obtain a crispy tart, enriched with all the flavors. cuisine Americans.

Of course, the filling is the special part that turns the apple pie into a truly American dessert. The filling differs depending on the variety of apples used (the most popular being Braeburn, Brampley, Cortland, Empire, Gala and Granny Smith, among others) and the spices with which the apples are combined. Each variety of apple changes the final texture of the filling and affects the baking time, but it is debatable whether it even affects the flavor of the pie.

The most used spices are cinnamon, butter, salt and, of course, sugar! Although the old recipes did not contain sugar due to its high price, it is definitely added today, along with other spicy spices such as nutmeg or cloves.

The origins of the apple pie date back to the 17th and 18th centuries, when this incredible dessert was brought to America by British, Dutch and Swedish settlers. It took some time for European apple varieties to grow and result in fruiting fruit trees, because until then there were no good local apple varieties (except for the forest apples which were small, hard and sour). Until apples appeared, settlers used meat as a filling for pies, and apples used them for cider.

You can find authentic American recipes for apple pie dating back to the 18th century, both in manuscripts and in printed books, and historians consider it to be one of the most beloved recipes by children. Once upon a time, apple pie could also be made with dried apples when it was no longer the season for fresh apples. From then until today, the apple pie has become more and more popular, and the Americans consider it so important that it has become a national symbol!

Despite its true European origins, apple pie has found a place of honor in American homes, and today the expression "as American as apple pie" is used to describe something typical American. Over the past two centuries, the apple pie has become a national symbol of prosperity, and during World War II, American soldiers invoked this dish, frequently responding with the phrase "Mom and apple pie" (for mom and baby. apple pie) when asked why they go to war & ndash what shows, I think, the love of Americans for this wonderful dessert!

Now that we have convinced you how wonderful the apple pie is, let's see how we transformed the traditional recipe into its vegan / fasting version, using green apples for the filling and vegan butter to prepare the homemade dough! I tried to keep the recipe as simple as the original, so I'm sure anyone can recreate it at home! & # 128578
