Chili’s Is Testing a 5-Meat, 1,650-Calorie Burger Monstrosity

Let's just put some brisket on there, and some ribs, and…

Chili's has a new five-meat burger, if you can find it.

A North Carolina restaurant is making headlines this week for topping a burger with a whole tarantula, but Chili’s may have its own challenger for the wacky-burger contest, because the chain is reportedly testing a new monster of a burger that has five different kinds of meat, is topped with both ranch dressing and barbecue sauce, and weighs in at 1,650 calories.

According to Foodbeast’s Constantine Spyrou, Chili’s new plate-busting creation is called the “Boss Burger,” and it has been released for testing at a handful of Chili’s restaurants around the country. Chili’s has not actually revealed which restaurants currently have the Boss Burger, though, so anybody who wants to try it will have to be ready to hunt for it like one of Willy Wonka's golden tickets.

The Boss Burger sounds like what happens when someone starts adding meat and forgets to say "when." It includes a half-pound beef patty topped with bacon, jalapeño-Cheddar smoked sausage, pulled rib meat, and smoked brisket. Then all that is topped with Cheddar cheese, ranch dressing, barbecue sauce, lettuce, and tomato. Anybody who does manage to find a Boss Burger at a participating Chili’s restaurant will have to tell the rest of us how it tastes, and also how they managed to fit it in their mouth. For more food mysteries, check out these 15 things you probably didn’t know about Chili’s.

2. Power to spare, but not much finesse
If you order a commercial robot coupe, you may find that the box
it comes in has no instruction pamphlet. There are two possible
explanations for this.
One is that the machine is available in so many countries that
the number of languages required for the instructions would turn
a pamphlet into a book. The other possibility is that the machine
is so blessedly simple that if you need instructions. . well, you
probably shouldn't be using it.

I should tell you that the robot coupe doesn't grind up handfuls of
basil particularly well and that it's only a fair to middlin' slicer.
What it does superbly is puree liquids and reduce chunky ingredients
to crumbs or paste. It is also a better kneader for bread dough than
any standard mixer and much much easier to clean.

The other virtue of the robot coupe is that you children will surely
inherit it and they are likely to pass it on to your grandchildren. Mine.

Powerful tool, not expensive toy
I read the review of the Robot Coupe R2N in Cooks Illustrated and was impressed with their endorsement of it as a must have tool if you could afford it. Because I injured both wrists in a freak accident, making it difficult for me to slice hard vegetables like beets or perform the kind of twisting and pushing motion required to grate cheeses, it was worth the price of admission to me if it performed as advertised. Boy, does it ever. If you have a Kitchen Aid stand mixer and a VitaMix blender you know that there are kitchen tools that save time, improve quality, and are cheaper over the long run because you never have to buy another one. All of this is true of the Robot Coupe. It is ridiculously easy to feed products into it, there are no nooks and crannies that catch and hold food so cleaning is a breeze, the motor is so powerful and the blades so sharp that it works lightning fast with no noise, bouncing around or bogging down, and you absolutely can and will produce restaurant.

  • Long lasting and durable die-cast aluminum exterior
  • Simple, iconic and stunning design makes a bold design statement in any kitchen
  • Highest quality materials and expert craftsmanship
  • 8 Colorful design options are available
  • 5-Cup capacity

Pros:
-Incredibly sturdy and well made. A pleasure to use every day. I anticipate having this a long time.
-Smallest footprint I've found.
-The 5-cup size is perfect for two adults to have a big, satisfying cup of coffee.
-You can use the included.

2. Tip for owners of the K-Mix
I won't expound on the many qualities of this coffee maker (of which there are many), as it has been well established here by the other reviews. I'm as happy as most, but obviously not all. I have not experience any of the problems these 1 and 2 star reviews are giving. This is a simple, good looking, sturdy coffee maker. If you're in a hurry for a cup of coffee, go to Starbucks.

Just a tip for those who buy this machine. After several pots of coffee have been made, you will turn it on one day and see an amber light blinking above the On/Off switch. There are no real instructions that come with this coffeemaker, so you're on your own to figure out what that blinking light means. What it means is this: It's time to descale the machine.

You can do this buy buying one of the many coffeemaker cleaners on the market (follow the instructions that come with that) or by running 4-6 cups of vinegar through the machine, followed by a few full pots of water to rinse it.

No 2-hour shut off
I like the looks and the coffee from this maker but, per the description, it should have a 2-hour shut off. It acually says "you never have to worry about turning off your coffee maker, with 2-hour automatic shut off it does it for you". When mine was not shutting itself off I called the company and they told me this model does not have an auto shut off. So, for over $100 you can't even get a feature that comes on $15 machines but should be considered a basic on ALL coffee pots just for safety reasons. Shame on Amazon for listing a description that is not at all accurate and shame on the company for making a substandard machine and charging a ridiculous price.

Keurig Signature B60 Bundle

  • Programmable LCD message center provides a 24-hour digital clock, auto on/off and brewing temperature control for easy operation
  • Less than 1-minute brew time allows you to prepare multiple beverages quickly
  • Water reservoir holds up to 48 ounces allowing you to fill the water tank less often serving sizes include 6, 8 and 10 ounces

$20 and the 60 K cups (vs the 12 you get in a normal package) is another $15 so it's on a par with what you can get a K60 for on sale if you look real hard.
We find it brews a good cup of coffee we're always using 10 oz mugs and the "large" setting is just fine. The filter/filter holder however does present some problems - the filter is messy to clean and water has a tendency to splash while brewing because there's not a tight fit between the top of the filter holder and the hot water nozzle. I solved that problem with a small o-ring taped to the filter top. That's the only reason I downgraded from a 5* rating.

2. coffee addict
I had this coffee maker for over 6 months. My husband and I drink coffee every day. I had to descale the machine 4 times already. The pot doesn't brew sometimes, it brews less and less coffee and is a big letdown after our Cuisinart lasted 5 years with no problems!! I like that we can have different types of coffee, but may be going back to ground coffee!

Lifespan of Keurig?
I purchased the large Keurig December 2008. It has performed fine until recently. The amount of liquid has been decreasing. I have soft water, so I didn't de-scale until the indicator came on. De-scaled last week per instructions. Had to de-scale again today. I suppose daily use for 2 years is ok, but for the price, I'd expect it to last longer. If it is still not performing, I will probably go back to the Cuinsart which, thankfully, is still in the garage. I don't think I'd purchase another Keurig. Had to resort to a jar of old instant coffee today (for emergencies), and actually, it tastes OK. Go figure.

Go figure.

DeLonghi Kmix 5-Cup Drip Coffee Maker, Yellow

Go figure.
